That is why large hospitals have separate “dietitians” to advise patients on food. Many of them have merely taken short-term certificate courses and lost their “common sense”! They have forgotten true evidence.

Our doctors know how to prescribe medicines. However, they lack in-depth study and familiarity with research in pharmacology. Barring a few who study out of personal interest, the situation of other doctors is just this.

If a person takes one medicine along with another, how do the two interact inside the body? What possible effects could that have on the body—information regarding this “drug-interaction” is also scarce. This means doctors do not know much about food, nor do they know much about medicine. Even if they know, they do not give advice. Yet, people seek only doctors’ advice on both of these matters!

There are physicians who tell open-heart surgery survivors and stroke survivors, “Eat whatever you want, but eat in moderation.” Once a doctor says this, it feels like a license to the patient! They will not listen to anyone else’s words.

No one understands the inner secrets of most doctors quite as well as merchants/corporations do. The method they have figured out is that if they simply twist information to suit their convenience and somehow stuff it into the heads of doctors, their business will remain secure without any threat. Thus, for several decades, the lobbyists of big pharmaceutical companies have sponsored “prestigious” research, poured money into it, and published reports tailored to their needs. They have quietly suppressed many honest research studies so they do not gain much publicity. The general public never comes to know about all this.

How many people know that the “ordinary pain-killers” (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) people take cause “heart attacks”; and that they should never be taken alongside aspirin? According to many studies, if one regularly takes “ordinary” pain relievers like ibuprofen or diclofenac for a period of time (the very use of the term “pain-reliever” is actually wrong. These pills do not relieve pain; they just make you unaware of the pain), heart-related problems may crop up even within the next five-year period! According to some independent studies, people in America (and everywhere) are mostly dying due to “Adverse Drug Reactions” (ADRs—harmful effects of drugs). However, the pharma lobby ensures that such matters do not gain much publicity.

The lifeblood of international food companies like Coca-Cola is refined table sugar. Even in India, major politicians are prominent among those who own sugar factories. We even have zones known as “sugar-belts.” If “sugar is bad” becomes the prevailing narrative, wouldn’t it ruin all their business? For this reason, it was proclaimed that “sugar does not cause diabetes; diabetes is caused solely by excessive obesity.” Haven’t many doctors been saying the same thing all along?

“Eating sugar does nothing. You simply shouldn’t consume more caloric food than your body requires. You must expend the calories you consume. That is your job. If you don’t burn calories through exercise, fat accumulates. That increases your weight and insulin resistance. Obesity can lead to type-2 diabetes. If genetic factors combine with obesity, the chances of getting it are even higher. Sugar has nothing to do with this. It’s true that sugar has high calories, but you can get high calories from anywhere. If you overeat, you get high calories from grains too; it doesn’t have to come from sugar alone. Therefore, moderation is the key. If you consume sugar in moderation every day and burn those calories, nothing will happen” — this is a huge myth (and a half-truth) created by lobbyists. Haven’t many of our doctors been saying this very thing?

Where did this “obesity” come from? Long ago, the concept of “weight-loss” didn’t even exist. Back then, people died prematurely from epidemics without cures, not from “lifestyle” diseases. Lifestyle diseases did exist back then. Only those suffering from malnutrition as a result of artificially created famines by British colonial administrators in India fell prey to those problems. Another reason for people’s deaths was that medical discoveries were not as advanced as they are now. For these reasons, the average mortality rate was high and average life expectancy was low in the 18th and 19th centuries. Those fortunate enough not to fall victim to malnutrition or infectious diseases commonly lived healthy lives up to 90–100 years. There was no situation like dying from eating the wrong things as there is today.

It is not as though everything was fine long ago. But health problems of those days were of a different kind. Even then, people consumed dairy products and faced various problems like heart issues, arthritis, and inflammation. However, there was no “bakery culture” like the one today. Long ago, “weight” and “obesity” were never problems. The very thought of weight loss did not exist among people. Why, the habit of measuring body weight didn’t even exist! The idea that the body could be weighed did not exist at all!

New diseases struck as a result of the business expansion plans of Western multinational corporations. Driven by the obsession to imitate/follow wealthy countries, other countries quickly fell into the trap of junk-food fascination. While the junk-food industry grew to increase weight on one hand, a “weight-loss” diet industry was cultivated on the other! Today, the global turnover of the diet industry is over 80 billion US dollars! The size of the global food market is 10 trillion dollars! Calculating this in rupees might shock you, beware!

Today, the word “diet” has become intertwined with the concept of “weight-loss.” But its original meaning is entirely different. The true meaning of the root Greek word “diaita” is “way of life”!

Independent research has proven that our current dietary habits (such as meat, dairy, oil, sugar, salt etc) not only increase weight but also damage the delicate layer of “endothelial” cells on the inner lining of blood vessels. Fat and cholesterol accumulate wherever it is damaged. This causes visceral fat, diabetes, heart attacks, and strokes.

It is a misconception that if you eat much less food than your body requires, you will stay slim and healthy. Due to such misconceptions, some people exhaust themselves by not eating properly.

“Oh! Too much carbs!”—a “passion” is growing in some places where people eat only oil, butter, ghee, sugar, non-veg etc. You can see “experts” here and there preaching that “fat must be fought with fat!” Although it has been proven that such a “ketogenic” diet is extremely dangerous, the intensity of propaganda supporting it has not decreased. If you eat primarily just greens, just fruits, just fat, or just sugarcane—consistently eating only one thing—it is certain to ruin your health.

Most foods contain carbohydrates. Many people obsess over low-carbohydrate “diet” foods. However, carbohydrates cannot be abandoned; they are absolutely essential. Carbohydrates provide fuel energy to the body like firewood provides fuel. The concept of a diet without them is impossible. But this source of energy must be obtained only in its natural form, through natural plant-based food.

The carbohydrates in the food you consume are converted into energy in the form of glucose within the body. This energy is required for your body to carry out its internal functions and for you to perform external activities.

Carbohydrates are of two types: simple and complex. Simple carbohydrates are pure sugar; meaning, they are rich in sugar content. Examples: maida (all-purpose white) flour, polished white rice. Consuming these causes blood sugar levels to spike immediately. This process is incorrect. The food you eat should provide glucose to your blood gradually and steadily. From this perspective, you should consume only “complex carbohydrate” food items that contain dietary fiber. Examples: unpolished brown rice, chemically unprocessed finger millet (ragi), local native wheat, and other whole grains.

Complex carbohydrates release glucose into your blood slowly and gradually. Sugar is not like that; it suddenly spikes blood glucose levels, leading to hunger returning quickly. This is especially problematic for those with diabetes and increases the likelihood of others developing diabetes sooner. Consuming sweets poses the risk of damaging a healthy person’s insulin system and causing diabetes. Instead, we must derive our fuel energy through fiber-rich complex carbohydrates.

There are many benefits to consuming fiber-rich foods. First, fiber-rich foods quickly induce a feeling of satisfaction/fullness in you, so you do not overeat. Second, dietary fiber ensures proper digestion and the proper absorption of nutrients into the blood. Third, fiber ensures that your bowel movements occur smoothly and properly. Crucially, it keeps heart health in good condition, balances insulin levels, and prevents diabetes. Green leafy vegetables, vegetables, fruits, whole grains with their outer layers intact, unprocessed whole grains, and legumes contain plenty of dietary fiber.

“Oh!
